A special delegation for introducing Hiroshima’s traditional dance and cuisine was sent to Guanajuato as a part of cultural exchanges between Guanajuato and Hiroshima.
The delegation consisted of about 30 selected Kagura performers and chefs, who displayed Hiroshima’s traditional dances and dishes at “Festival Internacional Cervantino”. Two Kagura dances “Momijigari” and “Yamata no Orochi” were performed at the Teatro Principal in the city of Guanajuato and at the Teatro Bicentenario in the city of Leon. On the 21st of October the anniversary ceremony of the Friendship Agreement was held by Hiroshima prefecture at Escuela Normal Superior, an educational institute and one of the cultural heritages of the city of Guanajuato. Variety of Hiroshima’s cuisine such as okonomiyaki and Japanese sake were served to the guests. Governor Miguel Márquez and other guests enjoyed the delicious foods and drinks and had friendly conversations with the members of the Hiroshima delegation.
There are many more events to come for further cultural exchanges, such as an exhibition in Hiroshima of famous artists in Guanajuato. We believe that these cultural exchanges are essential for the mutual understanding between Guanajuato and Hiroshima, and we will support the activities through planning and coordination.
